Flyswatter Project
In this project, I had to design a flyswatter that is suitable for injection moulding. This fly swatter had to be branded with a insectecide company. I chose to work with Raid.
Research on injection moulding was conducted in order to get an idea of how injection moulded products are made. Where some of the design criteria involved:
1. Equal wall thickness
2. Suitable radius equal to 0.5mm
3. Coring instead of making thick parts.
Design Process.

Sketches
Sketches were made to develop ideas into this project.
Final D
With the assistance of CAD, I developed how the flyswatter would look like.
Prototyping
Foam Mock-ups
I had to make mock-ups inbetween the sketching process to get how the flyswatter will look like. When I got my final design i had to make a prototype. Using ABS plastic, I had to replicate the final design.
Outlining the shape of the flyswatter.
Cutting pieces to join them.
Joining the pieces.
Workiing to get accurate measurement.
Holding two semi-finished prototypes
Since the flyswatter needs to be fast in its function, I designed a pattern of holes on the head to allow for faster movement, against wind resistance.
Finished hole patterns.
After making the prototypes I added colour so the is looks like the final injection moulded product. then it was done.
Final Prototypes.
Final Render
Thanks for viewing my project.
